*1. **Workshop on Frontiers in Gravitation, Astrophysics, and Cosmology,
****ICNFP 2018, **9-10 July 2018 (**Kolymbari Crete)*

The purpose of this workshop is to discuss and share new developments,
experimental and theoretical, in Gravitation, Astrophysics, and Cosmology.
https://indico.cern.ch/event/663474/page/12522-workshop-on-frontiers-in-gravitation-astrophysics-and-cosmology

It is part of the International Conference on New Frontiers in Physics, which
aims to promote scientific exchange and development of novel ideas in science
with a particular accent in interdisciplinarity. The conference will bring
together worldwide experts and promising young scientists working on
experimental and theoretical aspects of particle, nuclear, heavy ion and
astro-particle physics and cosmology, with colleagues from other disciplines,
for example solid state physics, mathematics, mathematical physics, quantum
optics and other.

The conference will be hosted in the Conference Center of the Orthodox Academy
of Creta (OAC), an exceptionally beautiful location only a few meters from the
mediteranean sea. Soon, information on lodging be available, as well as the
registration will be open soon, but you can contact already by email the
convenors to inform your intention to attend.

*2. Statistical Challenges in 21st century cosmology, 23-25 May (Valencia,
Spain)*

The third COSMO21 conference will be held in Valencia, Spain, May 23-25, 2018
http://cosmo21.cosmostat.org

Rationale: The dialogue between astronomers and statisticians during the last
20 years has been fruitful and has been the origin of a new discipline that is
now widely called Astrostatistics. In addition to actual data challenges, the
cosmological community is preparing big surveys such as LSST, Euclid and SKA.
These examples highlight the big current role and even bigger future role of
archival data in astrophysics research.

Keynote speakers
• Cosmic Microwave Background Jo Dunkley (USA / Princeton)
• Bayesian Methodology Jens Jasche (Germany / TUM)
• Deep Learning Stephane Mallat (France / ENS)
• Weak Lensing Rachel Mandelbaum (USA / Carnegie Mellon)
• Gravitational Waves Samaya Nissanke (The Netherlands / Radboud University)

Invited speakers

Gravitational waves
• Astronomical discovery from overwhelmingly large datasets

ADA IX Summer School (http://ada9.cosmostat.org)

A summer school on Astronomical Data Analysis (ADAIX) will take place just
before the conference (20-22 May), at the same venue and the COSMO21
registration includes the possibility to participate in the ADAIX Summer
School. Three review talks and three tutorials will be given on Machine

*5. CosmoTools 2018, 23-27 April (Aachen, Germany)*

We are very happy to announce the third edition of the CosmoTools School,
taking place this time at RWTH Aachen, Germany, from the 23rd to the 27th of
April 2018.

This school is designed to help young researchers understand and familiarise
themselves with the black box of cosmology codes.

We would very much appreciate if you could circulate the announcement below to
the students at your institute and to anyone else you might think could be
interested. Also feel free to print the PDF poster below and display it in your
institute. You can find all the relevant information below or at:
https://indico.cern.ch/e/CosmoTools2018

Please note that the deadline for registration is the 15th of March.

*6. PhD School "The Dark Side of the Universe", 18-23 June 2018* (*GSSI
L'aquila)*

The International School of Space Science of the Consorzio Interuniversitario
per la Fisica Spaziale organizes a Course on “The Dark Side of the Universe”,
to be held in L’Aquila, Italy, 18-22 June 2018, directed by A. Gregorio, B.
Garilli and Y. Mellier.

The course is designed for PhD students and young post-doctoral researchers and
will offer an overview of current knowledge of the content of the Universe with
special regards to the unknown Dark Universe. The physical problems will be
treated from the theoretical and experimental points on view. Special emphasis
will be given to observations with space-borne instruments and the next
generation ESA space mission: Euclid. The connection with the most important
space missions of the past, present and future will be presented.

Applications are due before February 25th, 2018.
