   * Sołtan argument (1982?)
   * the X-ray background is now accepted as being mostly from AGNs
   * the Silk &amp; Rees 1998 feedback mechanism has problems, so there's also a feeding mechanism
   * problems remain with matching all the observational parameters to the models
   * there's a new model with Kollmeier being prepared
   * BH evolution is closely tied with stellar spheroid evolution
