COSMO-PL SPRING MEETING 2006

A Big-Rip (phantom) scenario and an exotic future of the Universe.

abstract:

The recent supernovae data together with large scale structure and CMBR observations favours the dark energy with the matter equation of state $p< - \varrho$ which was dubbed phantom. This matter forces the universe to inflate much faster than the cosmological constant and its gravitational effect is first felt on larger scales which leads to the total distraction of the bound objects in the universe from the largest to the smallest - a Big-Rip singularity.

In my talk I will review cosmological models with a Big-Rip singularity, the support, motivation, and their relation to superstring and M-theory cosmology. Apart from classical scenarios, I will also discuss quantum cosmological scenarios with phantom. I will also show other more exotic scenarios of the future evolution of the universe and their possible observational detection/support.
