hi cosmo-pl,
Here are two 2014 FR-based cosmo meetings that you might find
interesting. Announcement "3." below is in French, but if you paste
the URL into a browser, you'll see that the program looks like it will
very likely be in English. One PL-based participant is already listed
in the preliminary program.

4. IAUS306: statistical challenges in 21st century cosmology - 26-29 mai 2014,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The IAU Symposium 306 on Statistical Challenges in 21st Century
Cosmology will take place in Lisbon, Portugal from 26-29 May 2014,
with a tutorial day on 25 May.
Full exploitation of the very large surveys of the Cosmic Microwave
Background, Large-Scale Structure, weak gravitational lensing and
future 21cm surveys will require use of the best statistical
techniques to answer the major cosmological questions of the 21st
century, such as the nature of Dark Energy and gravity.
Thus it is timely to emphasise the importance of inference in
cosmology, and to promote dialogue between astronomers and
statisticians. This has been recognized by the creation of the IAU
Working Group in Astrostatistics and Astroinformatics in 2012.
IAU Symposium 306 will be devoted to problems of inference in
cosmology, from data processing to methods and model selection, and
will have an important element of cross-disciplinary involvement from
the statistics communities.
You are invited to submit an abstract for a contributed talk or poster
for the meeting, via the meeting website
(http://sccc21.sim.ul.pt). The deadline for abstract submission is
21st March 2014. Full information on the scientific rationale,
programme, proceedings, critical dates, and local arrangements will be
on the symposium web site.

> Subject: 1st announcement: Gravitation and cosmology session at QQQ 2012
> conference in Tallinn, Estonia
Dear Colleague,
This is the first announcement of the topical session "Gravitation and
cosmology" to be held on 10-14 July 2012 in Tallinn, Estonia in the
framework of the conference "3Q: Algebra, Geometry, Information".
The topics of the session include but are not limited to:
- mathematical aspects of classical general relativity theory and its
modifications,
- quantum properties of the gravitational interaction,
- cosmological models in modified theories of gravity and their
observational consequences.
The session is dedicated to the centenary of Professor Harald Keres
(1912-2010) who initiated studies in general relativity in Estonia. As
our current research aims at explaining dark energy with modifications
that extend Einstein's theory, we are especially looking forward for
talks on this and related topics.
The Tallinn conference is a satellite meeting to MG13, the Marcel
Grossmann Meeting on General Relativity, held on 1-7 July 2012 in
Stockholm, conveniently just across the Baltic sea.

Looking forward to meet you in Tallinn,
Best regards,

hi cosmo-pl,
The following should be a good conference for almost anyone doing
observational work. People with teaching duties would need
to get replacements for the week of the conference.

2. Astronomical Data Analysis (ADA) - 7th conference, 14-18 May 2012,
Cargese, Corsica, France
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Held regularly since 2001, the ADA conference series is focused on
algorithms and information extraction from astrophysical data
sets. The conference program includes keynote, invited and contributed
talks, as well as posters. This conference series has been
characterized by a range of innovative themes, including multiscale
geometric transforms such as the curvelet transform, compressed
sensing and clustering in cosmology, while at the same time remaining
closely linked to front-line open problems and issues in astrophysics
and cosmology.
This year the conference will be proceded by a full week of Tutorials
(7 - 11 May 2012) on various topics of advanced data processing.
During ADA-VII one session will be dedicated to advanced algorithms in
the astronomical project pipeline. Other sessions will include
asteroseismology, exoplanet detection, large scale structures (weak
lensing, galaxy catalogs), CMB (source separation, polarization),
restoration (map-making, deconvolution, modeling), hyperspectral data
analysis, compressed sensing.
The ADA conference is a strongly interdisciplinary conference allowing
researchers coming from different fields to interact. We generally
have 5 or 6 keynote speakers, who are leaders in their respective
fields, half being astronomers and the other half being
mathematicians, statisticians or electrical engineering
researchers. Each session has at least one invited speaker, and half
of the talks are contributed talks.
A full poster session is included in the program, where each
researcher with a poster will have a 2 minutes oral talk, allowing for
a presentation of himself or herself, presentation of results and an
invitation to view the poster.
Note: The Cargese conference center can host 80 participants during
the conference week and 40 participants during the tutorial week.
